HID-D1R Bulbs are rare because the
D1 platform is used in only a minority of
higher-end luxury vehicles

That being the case, higher-end vehicles
tend to spare no expense and incorporate
projector lens headlights into the vehicle
design, instead of reflector based
headlamps.
The Ford Motor company is the only
automobile manufacturer currently using
D1R bulbs. The HID Headlights on the
Lincoln Navigator (03 - 07), Town Car
(03-07), and Zephyr (06-07), use HID-D1R
bulbs. If you own one of these vehicles
and it does not have the optional HID
headlights, D1R bulbs will not fit on your
vehicle and you will have to find an HID Kit
to convert from stock Halogen bulbs to HID.
